A slightly silly Stargate poem that I wrote one wet weekend at work

"A Stargate Poem" - by Emma Nisbet

At Giza they did find a gate
Buried by the men of late
What it was or where it came from
Was the riddle they would work on
Out they dug and then erected
A gate to stars not yet detected
Then they could not make it work
Due to some strange language quirk
Daniel Jackson was a geek
Twenty three languages he did speak
When they asked him, he translated
Ancient writing far outdated
Then off to Abydos they went
To confront an evil gent
The name of Ra was how he's known
But with their help was overthrown
The kids on Abydos were saved
And never more would they be slaves
For Jack he blew up Ra's space ship
Before he went home from the trip
-
Daniel stayed on that dry planet
To read the words scribed in the granite
With joy that he could barely hide
One year he lived with his young bride
Then the gate was reawakened
And Daniels world was truly shaken
When Jack returned from planet Earth
Another foe did the gate give birth
The Lord Apophis who was a Goa'uld
And many planets by him were ruled
He searched for hosts of agile beauty
But Teal'c felt guilty of this duty
Daniel's wife Sha're was taken
But her life was not forsaken
For he vowed to get her back
With help from Carter, Teal'c and Jack
-
Back to Earth the humans travelled
And Daniels life came more unravelled
When next his wife and team re-met
She was host to Goa'uld queen Amonet
