It was a week after they'd both been sick and they were finally all better and the house was in order. Jack was sitting on the couch, watching hockey, while Danny and Lumpy and Stretch were having a heart to heart discussion.
During the next commercial, Danny piped up, "Jack?"
"Yes, Danny?"
"Lumpy was telling me about something that happened while I was sick."
'Oh, no,' Jack thought. He didn't plan on Lumpy being a tattletale. "What was Lumpy telling you, kiddo?"
"He said you kicked him into the bedroom and then up on the bed," Danny told him accusingly.
"Um." Jack had to do some quick thinking. "I had to hold onto you, sport. I didn't want to leave Lumpy behind and it was the only way to get both of you into the bedroom."
"Lumpy didn't think it was very nice of you and neither do I," Danny told him.
"I'm sorry," Jack told his kid.
"I'm not the one you kicked," Danny pointed out holding out Lumpy.
'Oh well,' Jack thought. He took Lumpy from Danny and held the stuffed camel on his lap. "I'm sorry I kicked you across the floor, Lumpy. I won't do it again."
"He wants you to promise," Danny told him.
"I promise, Lumpy," he told the camel. After handing the camel back to Danny he asked, "Does Lumpy forgive me now?"
Danny held Lumpy to his ear. "Lumpy forgives you," he told Jack. "However, he thinks you need time-out."
Jack choked. "Time-out?"
Danny nodded. "He thinks you should have to turn off the hockey game and read all of us a story."
Jack sighed. That wasn't too bad. He could always tape it. He grabbed the remote and hit the record button and then turned it off. "Go pick out a book, kiddo. Time for a story."
Danny placed Lumpy and Stretch on Jack's lap, found a thick book for Jack to read and settled himself on between his friends. Home Rponda
